My Prolific July

June was all about recovering from the stress of writing program applications, musing on new ideas, and catching up on errands.

July is going to be all about being prolific. More writing, more blogging, more creativity! Less procrastinating, less dawdling, less time spent on Facebook.

I set a goal to finish a new original pilot script by the end of August, so July is the time for formulating and outlining. Then there are all the short stories I want to finish, short film scripts I want to write, and that dang graphic novel that keeps bumping around my head.

I met a writer friend of a writer friend last night, who writes eight hours a day, seven days a week. My friend called him prolific. I love that word.

I don't know if I could write eight hours a day, seven days a week, but if I could just write a few more hours a day than I do now, I would have a lot more material to show for it. And feel a lot less stressed, because having written feels so much better than writing.

So that's my goal for the month - be prolific. We'll see how it goes!

Happy July!

  1. I am most productive when I spend a lot of time staring at my easels, whether it be a work in progress or a blank canvas. For me that time is as important as the actual time spent with a brush in hand. It's all about the head space. So...Do it! Stare, muse, scribble, type. Be prolific.

    1. Thanks Cindy! I think the equivalent phrase for writers is, "Ass in the chair." That's what I'm doing this month! :)
